Cycling in Toowoomba: Rail Trails, Parks and Escarpment Rides
Toowoomba's cycling network has grown alongside its population and is centred on the former railway corridor rail trail system and its significant network of parks. The Toowoomba Rail Trail (officially the Toowoomba Range Scenic Railway) follows the dramatic escarpment descent from Toowoomba down to Helidon in the Lockyer Valley below. The urban cycling path network connects the CBD to the major parks including Laurel Bank and Picnic Point. Lake Annand has a shared path around the lake foreshore. Mountain bikers and trail riders can access the escarpment bush in sections around Redwood Park. The Carnival of Flowers route through the CBD and Queens Park is a popular scenic cycling option in September. Hire bikes are available from a small number of operators in the city. Toowoomba Regional Council's website publishes current cycling infrastructure maps.
