Bars and Nightlife in Toowoomba: Russell Street, Margaret Street and Live Music

Toowoomba's bar and nightlife scene is concentrated primarily in the CBD area around Ruthven Street, Margaret Street and the CBD laneways, with a mix of pub culture, live music venues and newer craft beer and cocktail bars that reflect the city's growing food culture. Margaret Street has a concentration of bars and restaurants that are popular on Friday and Saturday nights. The Toowoomba Brewing Company and several other craft breweries have opened taprooms in the city in recent years, reflecting a national trend well received by Toowoomba's younger demographic. Several heritage hotels including the CBD's oldest pubs run live music programs through the week. The Carnival of Flowers in September and Easter are the biggest nightlife periods in the Toowoomba calendar, with the city filling with visitors and bars extending their hours. The USQ student population keeps mid-week trade slightly stronger than it would otherwise be in a city of Toowoomba's character. Check local listings for current live music programs as the schedule varies week to week.
