Gyms and Fitness in Toowoomba: Staying Active on the Darling Downs
Toowoomba has a solid gym and fitness network for a major regional city. All major 24-hour chains are present across the CBD, Wilsonton, Harristown and the Ruthven Street corridor. The Toowoomba Regional Aquatic Centre on Mackenzie Street provides competition and recreational swimming with a 50-metre outdoor pool and heated indoor facilities. TAFE Queensland and the University of Southern Queensland campus have student-accessible fitness facilities. Boutique studios for Pilates, yoga and CrossFit have grown in the CBD and Rockville area. The parkland network including Queens Park and Laurel Bank Park provides free outdoor running circuits. The cooler escarpment climate (cooler than the Lockyer Valley below and the southeast Queensland coast) makes Toowoomba one of the more comfortable year-round outdoor training environments in Queensland.
