Clubs sharpen drills on familiar grounds
Players from the Toowoomba Bears, who train daily along Ruthven Street, now share sessions with the Goondiwindi Wolves at the fields behind the University of Southern Queensland campus on West Street. Both sides finished the regular season inside the top four and will meet in one semi-final.
Coaches have adjusted lineout calls and defensive patterns after reviewing match footage from the past fortnight. The Bears recorded 18 wins from 22 regular-season games, while the Wolves conceded the fewest points in the competition.
Numbers point to strong crowds and tight margins
Regular-season attendance at the Toowoomba Sports Ground averaged 2,150 spectators per match, with the highest single gate reaching 3,400 on June 14. Adult entry for finals matches is listed at $18, and season-ticket holders can upgrade for an additional $12 per game.
The grand final is scheduled for August 2 at the same venue, where last year’s decider finished 24-21. Organisers expect similar numbers this year given the early sell-through of reserved seating.
