Toowoomba Twilight Markets draw locals back to the Showgrounds after June launch

The Toowoomba Twilight Markets began trading on Friday evenings at the Toowoomba Showgrounds on 5 June 2026.

Winter trading hours now run from 4pm to 8pm each Friday, giving residents a new option for fresh produce and prepared food after standard work hours. The change aligns with colder evenings that keep people indoors earlier in the day, and the markets fill a gap left by daytime-only stalls that previously closed by mid-afternoon.

Stalls line the Showgrounds ring road

Vendors set up along the main ring road at the Showgrounds, with several stalls also spilling onto the grass near the Clifford Park entrance. Shoppers can reach the site from Margaret Street by following the signs past the Toowoomba Regional Council offices or by parking in the free lots off Glenvale Road. Two permanent additions include a cheese maker from Highfields and a baker operating from a converted shipping container on the eastern side of the grounds.

Attendance reached 2,400 visitors on the second Friday in June, according to figures released by the Toowoomba Regional Council events team. Entry remains free, though individual items range from $4 for a sourdough roll to $18 for a hot pie and side salad. The council reports that 18 of the 32 stalls are operated by businesses based inside the Toowoomba postcode area.

Practical steps for first-time visitors

Arrive before 5pm to avoid the main rush near the food trucks. Bring a reusable bag for purchases and check the weather app, as the site has limited covered areas beyond the central pavilion. The markets continue every Friday through August, with the next scheduled date set for 17 July.
